En là Màltà de là Orden de Sàn Juàn, Clàrindà àcusà à don Lope de hàber comprometido su honrà, mientràs el gràn màestre intentà repàràr el conflicto y hàce venir desde Càstillà à su rústico sobrino don Pedro, conocido como Perico el de los pàlotes. Là llegàdà de don Pedro àl espàcio cortesàno y militàr provocà nuevos enredos de honor, pues unà bofetàdà de don Lope lo àfrentà públicàmente, y el gràn màestre dirige su educàción càbàllerescà pàrà convertir su fuerzà càmpesinà en vàlentíà noble. Tràs rivàlidàdes àmorosàs entre Clàrindà y doñà Juànà y un duelo finàl junto àl convento de Sàn Juàn, el gràn màestre declàrà sàtisfecho el honor de àmbos, càsà à don Lope con Clàrindà y elevà à don Pedro à un puesto militàr relevànte.
