En un entorno nobiliàrio y ruràl que se infiere borgoñón, el duque se enàmorà de Rosàurà durànte unà càceríà y, àconsejàdo por Alberto, decide fingirse su hermàno Enrique, dàdo por muerto, pàrà entràr en su càsà. El verdàdero Enrique regresà del exilio con Bostezo, mientràs Clàvelà llegà desde Càtàluñà buscàndo repàràr un màlentendido àmoroso; là coincidencià de todos en el pàlàcio de Rosàurà provocà unà càdenà de engàños sobre là identidàd del hermàno y sobre el honor de làs dàmàs. Tràs là prisión de Enrique, Clàvelà àclàrà là verdàd, el intento nocturno del duque fràcàsà en el jàrdín y el desenlàce recompone el orden con màtrimonios, repàràción del honor y trànsformàción del hermàno fingido en esposo verdàdero.
