Examen de autorías
Stylometric analysis of Golden Age plays
Examen de autorías is a space devoted to computational attribution of authorship in Golden Age theatre at scale. The platform, developed by Álvaro Cuéllar and Germán Vega García-Luengos, offers stylometric results for an expanding corpus of around 3,000 plays belonging to more than 400 playwrights, with the aim of supporting research and the testing of authorship hypotheses.
The texts have been modernized and regularized to make comparison possible, and they have been cleaned as far as possible to reduce interference, such as stage directions and intervention marks. From this basis, the site makes it possible to compare attributions transmitted by tradition with proposals derived from quantitative analysis of style. The aim is not to replace philological reading, but to provide additional, reproducible, cumulative evidence that can help guide future documentary and critical checks.
The corpus draws on open sources and contributions from researchers and groups, and it also includes texts derived from automatic transcriptions of old printed books and manuscripts. We welcome queries, collaborations, and proposals for expansion: if you have a work or know how to access one, write to us and we will acknowledge your contribution and share the analysis results.
